Responsibilities

• Schedules inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures.
• Ensures scheduling aligns with surgeon time constraints and facility availability.
• Coordinates with vendors and hospital staff to ensure equipment and care continuity.
• Enters notes and special instructions into the EMR.
• Provides patients with test preparations, arrival times, and directions.
• Obtains or communicates need for prior authorization.
• Ensures proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed.
• Pre-procedure calls and confirms appointment times with patients.
• Reviews discharge instructions and schedules follow-ups.
• Performs clerical duties and cross-trains within the department.
• Maintains patient safety and accurate posting/billing through correct coding.
