Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Surgical Scheduling Coordinator to manage procedure scheduling based on surgeon privileges, coordinate with the surgical office, and maintain accurate documentation in Epic OpTime and the EMR. You will collaborate with OR leadership and various departments to optimize daily OR utilization.

The role requires 2+ years in hospital registration or scheduling, strong communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google software.

Qualifications

• Two years in hospital registration and/or scheduling in a medical setting.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office or Google software.

Responsibilities

• Schedules procedures based on surgeons active privileges and monitors daily for changes.
• Selects patients from the MPI in Epic to schedule procedures per protocols with the surgeon's office.
• Schedules PAT appointments according to the surgery.
• Provides and updates surgeon's office with detailed information by fax or telephone regarding patient status for surgery.
• Documents in the EMR all special requests from the surgical office required for the procedure.
• Notifies and coordinates with other departments or vendors for services needed for the procedure.
• Obtains pertinent background and medical history appropriate for scheduling.
• Communicates block schedule and manages block releases for surgeons.
