Responsibilities

• Coordinate with vendors on instrument trays, trial sets and inventory for scheduled cases.
• Schedule pre-operative appointments, labs, imaging, and clearances with patients.
• Conduct pre-operative nursing assessments and review medical history to identify concerns.
• Ensure preoperative testing is ordered, completed, and results reviewed.
• Coordinate medical clearances with physicians and specialists as needed.
• Educate patients/families on pre-operative instructions and NPO guidelines.
• Obtain/sverify surgical consents and pre-authorization from insurers.
• Track authorizations and follow up with payers for approvals.
• Document all assessments and communications in the EHR.
• Serve as primary nursing contact for surgical patients.
• Communicate logistics to patients and support persons for day-of-surgery.
• Facilitate interpreter services for language barriers as needed.
• Collaborate with surgeons, PAs, NPs, MAs, front desk, billing for workflow.
• Support post-operative care planning and discharge coordination.
• Participate in schedule review meetings and process improvements.

Assists providers in coordinating patient care with surgical procedure and scheduling these procedures. Functions as primary clinical liaison between patients, providers, and hospital departments for surgical procedures in the hospital as well as in the office setting on an as needed basis. The position combines nursing expertise with exceptional organizational and communication skills.Essential Job Functions\*:* Schedule elective, urgent and add-on cases* Coordinate case scheduling with surgeons, surgical scheduling, and OR scheduling teams.
