Job summary

UCI Health is seeking an experienced Registration Specialist to obtain authorizations, verify funding, and schedule patients for surgery. You will respond to patient inquiries and resolve identified issues while coordinating with clinical teams.

The role requires hospital/clinic registration experience, knowledge of medical terminology, and strong MS Office skills. Travel to off-site physician practices may be required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with computer registration and registration scheduling system.
• Must demonstrate general understanding of medical terminology.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Must be able to travel to off site physician practices.
• Minimum one (1) year recent experience (within past two (2) years) registering patients in a hospital or clinic, working as a Medical Assistant, or working in medical billing.
• General knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated experience using MS Office.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to interpret and understand various medical insurance plans and make accurate determinations regarding coverage.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
