Job summary

Riverview Health in Indiana seeks a Surgical Nurse (RN) to care for patients during surgical procedures and assist the OR team. The role involves perioperative support, sterile technique, and collaboration with anesthesia staff using state-of-the-art equipment.

The position requires an ASN with Indiana RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS within 3 months. Two years of circulating/scrub experience preferred; BSN is a plus. On-call weekend/holiday/weeknights may apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum ASN nursing degree required; RN in Indiana.
• Two years circulating or scrub experience in surgical settings preferred.
• Ability to prepare and manage sterile field, medications, and incisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide patients with surgery expectations before OR transport.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans for surgical patients.
• Prepare and deliver medications to sterile field; sterilize, confirm and mark incision sites.
• Set up the operating room ensuring all tools are sterile before procedures.
• Assist scrub team by passing instruments and maintaining sterile technique.
• Safely use and troubleshoot medical equipment to support nursing interventions.
• Post procedure, prep patient for recovery and report to the recovery RN.
• Assist with ordering and storage of surgical equipment and supplies.
• Document patient care accurately for post-procedure follow-up and billing.
• Provide unit education and assist with orientation of new staff.
• On-call coverage for weekends, holidays, and weeknights.
