Job summary

SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - St. Charles is seeking an RN First Assist to join the surgical team.

You will provide direct assistance to surgeons before, during, and after procedures, position patients, and help achieve optimal visualization and hemostasis. The role requires at least two years of RN experience in a surgical specialty, completion of an RNFA program or RNFA equivalency for CRNFA, BLS, and Missouri RN licensure.

Qualifications

• Two years RN experience in an advanced surgical specialty.
• Completion of RNFA program or RNFA education equivalency for CRNFA.
• Current BLS HealthCare Provider certification.
• Missouri RN license/registration

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons before, during, and after procedures.
• Position patients for best exposure and assist with visualization; use instruments, sponges, suction, and irrigation.
• Assist with hemostasis and wound management; apply dressings and manage drains as needed.
• Apply evidence-based nursing practices based on patient age and clinical needs.
• Participate in on-call rotations (3–4 nights per month) including weekends and holidays.
