Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire (if performing moderate/procedural sedation).
• Internal applicants must have one year of related clinical experience; external applicants two years.
• Prescreen competency assessments required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies.
• Perform circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patients’ conditions and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure.
• Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning.
• Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use.
