Job summary

Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, Alabama, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Surgery team. The RN-Surgery provides direct nursing care to surgical patients in an acute care setting, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care alongside the interdisciplinary team.

This role supports perioperative interventions across age groups, ensuring patient safety, education, and comfort throughout the perioperative journey.

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN license in the state of practice.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS within facility policy time frames.
• BSN preferred; perioperative nursing experience is a plus.
• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience; perioperative/surgical services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers patient-centered nursing care based on standards and the nursing process.
• Administers medications and treatments per policy.
• Documents all aspects of patient care clearly and accurately.
• Monitors, evaluates, and communicates patient condition to care team, patient, and family.
• Coordinates with surgical and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care.
• Participates in patient transfer, discharge, and referrals as needed.
• Educates patients and families on surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and post-operative care.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients throughout the surgical experience.
