Job summary

Minnesota Oncology in Minnesota is seeking Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to join a team dedicated to cancer care. Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, you will assess patients, plan and implement care, and participate in prevention, screening, patient education, and research.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package and a salary range of $100,000–$180,000 annually. The role requires MSN and MN RN license with NP certification for NPs, or PA program

Qualifications

  • MSN required for NP role and NP certification.
  • Current MN RN license and NP certification required for NP candidates.
  • For PA candidates: completion of accredited PA program and MN licensure with CPR.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
  • Initiates and documents interventions; prescribes therapies as indicated.
  • Performs procedures after appropriate training.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and community resource referrals.
  • Incorporates evidence-based practice into clinical care.
  • Completes documentation and charge capture in timely fashion.
  • May provide case management and staff education.
  • Rounding at affiliated sites and after-hours duties may apply.

Responsibilities

Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
  • Performs procedures after appropriate training.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Incorporates the developing knowledge of evidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • Developing knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.
  • May promote/provide staff education
  • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hour calls.
  • Other duties as assigned
SALARY LEVEL:

$100,000-$180,000 annually

Qualifications
  • Nurse Practitioner
    • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education
    • Current Minnesota RN license and current certification as Nurse Practitioner
    • Minimum of three years of experience as a practicing NP
    • Prefer previous surgical experience
  • Physician Assistant
    • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
    • Minimum of three years' experience as a practicing Physician Assistant
    • Prefer previous surgical experience
    • Current MN state licensure and current CPR certification required
