Job summary

Minnesota Oncology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive oncology care at our Chaska clinic, with regular travel to Waconia and Ridgeview Medical Center in Arlington, MN. The incumbent will assess, plan, and implement patient care, deliver education, and support families through cancer treatment in a rural healthcare setting.

The ideal candidate has an MSN or PA training with MN licensure and NP/PA certification, plus at least three years of practice,

Qualifications

• MSN from an accredited program for nursing education.
• Current Minnesota RN license and current certification as Nurse Practitioner.
• Minimum of three years of experience as a practicing NP.
• Experience and knowledge in managing cancer-related physiologic and psychological effects preferred.
• Oncology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
• Initiates and documents interventions; evaluates responses and prescribes therapies as indicated.
• Performs procedures with minimal supervision.
• Provides education to patients and families.
• Promotes wellness and community resources; incorporates evidence-based practice.
• May provide case management and participate in clinical trials materials.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
• Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
• Performs procedures with minimal supervision.
• Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
• Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
• Often incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice.
• Solid knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
• Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
• Likely to provide case management for patients and their families.
• Sometimes serves as a resource for nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.
• May provide palliative care for the patient and their families as needed.
• May promote/provide staff education
• Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals, weekend or after-hour calls
• May mentor new advanced practice providers
• May precept APP students
• Other duties as assigned

Salary Level

$100,000-$180,000 annually, prorated by FTE

Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioner
  • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education
  • Current Minnesota RN license and current certification as Nurse Practitioner
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a practicing NP
  • Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effect of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment strongly preferred
  • Prefer previous experience in oncology
• Physician Assistant
  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Minimum of three years' experience as a practicing Physician Assistant
  • Prefer previous experience in oncology
  • Current MN state licensure and current CPR certification required
  • Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effect of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment strongly preferred
