Job summary

Minnesota Oncology is seeking Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to provide high-quality cancer care in a collaborative team. Responsibilities include direct patient care, education, and coordination with physicians in both clinic and telemedicine settings.

Qualified candidates hold an MSN or PA degree with valid Minnesota licensure and current CPR certification, plus several years of relevant experience. Competitive benefits and professional growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • MSN from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Minnesota RN license and NP certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of NP clinical practice.
  • Surgical experience preferred (for NP track).
  • PA program from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of PA practice experience.
  • MN licensure and CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Care for individuals and patient groups with cancer or related diagnoses, in clinic or via telemedicine.
  • Collaborate with physicians to plan and document patient care and education.
  • Adhere to OSHA, compliance standards, and US Oncology policies.
  • Provide case management or staff education as needed.
  • Contribute to documentation and screening activities, and support research where applicable.

Education

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Minnesota RN license
Nurse Practitioner certification
Minimum of three years of NP practice experience
Surgical experience preferred
Accredited Physician Assistant program
Minimum of three years of PA practice experience
Minnesota state licensure and CPR certification

Responsibilities

Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
  • Performs procedures after appropriate training.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Incorporates the developing knowledge of evidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • Developing knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.
  • May promote/provide staff education
  • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hour calls.
  • Other duties as assigned
SALARY LEVEL:

$100,000-$180,000 annually

Qualifications
  • Nurse Practitioner
    • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education
    • Current Minnesota RN license and current certification as Nurse Practitioner
    • Minimum of three years of experience as a practicing NP
    • Prefer previous surgical experience
  • Physician Assistant
    • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
    • Minimum of three years' experience as a practicing Physician Assistant
    • Prefer previous surgical experience
    • Current MN state licensure and current CPR certification required
