Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor for Surgical Pathology to oversee daily operations and ensure high-quality IHC slide production.

The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, SOP development, and staff management, with responsibilities spanning data analysis, quality control reviews, and collaboration with leadership on workload and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• NYS DOE Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required.
• NSH Certified Histotechnologist (ASCP) required.
• Histology and/or immunohistochemistry experience required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Laboratory in line with goals.
• Conduct basic data analysis to monitor lab operation and performance.
• Review quality control data and develop SOPs for IHC processes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (CAP, NYSDOH, OSHA).
• Manage human resources: recruit, orient, train, and evaluate staff.
• Schedule and assign staff as needed.
• Address issues and investigations from staff and clinical members.
• Ensure reagent and supply stock; manage material workflow.
• Maintain communication with leadership on workload and performance.
• Support workflow improvements (embedding, microtomy, slide scanning, filing).
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
