Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL seeks a pathology technician to provide anatomic pathology services under a pathologist's supervision. You will interact with pathologists in gross examination, perform tissue prosection, and assist with intraoperative consultations.

Responsibilities include maintaining supplies and performing special techniques like bone decalcification and imaging. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science, Allied Health Science or a related field.
• Two (2) years of related experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide anatomic pathology services under the direction and supervision of a pathologist.
• Interact with pathologists in the gross examination of surgical pathology specimens.
• Perform all aspects of tissue prosection of specimens.
• Assist the pathologist with intraoperative consultations.
• Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies, reagents and solutions to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
• Perform special techniques such as bone decalcification and utilize photography and imaging instruments.
