Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL seeks a pathology technician to provide anatomic pathology services under a pathologist's supervision. You will interact with pathologists in gross examination, perform tissue prosection, and assist with intraoperative consultations.

Responsibilities include maintaining supplies and performing special techniques like bone decalcification and imaging. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2 years of experience are required.

Job Description

To provide anatomic pathology services under the direction and supervision of a pathologist. To interact with pathologists in the gross examination of surgical pathology specimens. To perform all aspects of tissue prosection of specimens. To assist the pathologist with intraoperative consultations. To maintain an adequate inventory of supplies, reagents and solutions to ensure uninterrupted workflow in the grossing and intraoperative consultation areas. To perform special techniques such as bone decalcification along with utilizing and maintaining photography and imaging instruments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Biological Science, Allied Health Science or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
