Job summary

UF Health in Gainesville seeks an Assistant to the Surgical Pathology department. You will coordinate activities, maintain databases and files for slides, blocks, and reports, and document calls related to cases.

This role supports statistics, budget, research and teaching projects, and serves as a backup for secretarial and transcriber responsibilities.

A laboratory background is preferred but not required; candidates with strong organization and communication skills will excel.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in medical terminology and office procedures.
• Typing speed of at least 50 CWPM with accuracy.
• Experience with office management systems, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Ability to use critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Surgical Pathology activities and maintain databases/files for slides, blocks and reports.
• Document calls pertaining to cases and manage related data.
• Prepare and monitor Surgical Pathology send-outs.
• Serve as a backup for secretarial and transcriber responsibilities.
• Assist with statistics, budget, research and teaching projects.
