Job summary

LCMC Health in New Orleans is seeking an Operating Room Attendant to support a safe, comfortable surgical experience by ensuring transport equipment is ready and sterile for use. You’ll assist in moving patients to and from surgery, keep hallways clear, and coordinate with the operating team to maintain a smooth turnover between cases.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 2 years of work experience can substitute for a diploma.
• American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Able to perform simple mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from surgery.
• Ensure all movable equipment is safely stored and clean.
• Report nonfunctional or broken equipment to management.
• Assist in maintaining adequate inventory levels.
• Identify patients accurately and prepare them for transport to surgery.
• Use appropriate cleaning solutions after each use of equipment.
• Assist the operating team with turnover between cases.
• Interact with patients, families, visitors and staff to maintain a professional environment.
• Attend required safety training programs and follow safety guidelines.
