The Operating Room Technician (ORT) is a key member of the surgical team, serving as a primary scrub or circulating under RN supervision. The role requires handling instruments and equipment and ensuring asepsis throughout procedures.

This position involves on-call duties and collaboration with RNs and management to optimize instrumentation and case flow, including education for other ORTs. Applicants must be prepared to stand for long periods and lift as needed, with required BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of a surgical technology school with certification within 12 months from graduation OR a currently Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.
• Meets requirements of pre-employment screening and physical.
• Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with PC operation is preferred.
• Must be able to take call as scheduled.
• Must be self-motivated and technically adept.
• Ability to work independently under stressful conditions.
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods.
• AHA-BLS Certified is required or obtain within six months of hire or current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to renewal date.
• Excellent customer service skills are required.
• Proof of 15 hours of continuing education yearly.

Responsabilités

• Act as primary scrub person and handle instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• May circulate under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Mentor new ORTs and assist in education of all ORTs.
• Work primarily at CVPH main campus with assignments to Ambulatory Surgery Center.
