Job summary

Hudson Regional Health in Hoboken, NJ, is seeking an Operating Room/Surgical Technician to help maintain a sterile environment, set up instruments, and assist surgeons during procedures to ensure patient safety and efficiency.

You will uphold infection control standards, verify instrument functionality, manage supplies, and collaborate with nurses and doctors to optimize OR turnover and patient care. This is a full-time day shift with rotational on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Prior OR experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Strong teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile drapes according to procedure.
• Assist surgical teams during operations by passing instruments, sponges, and other sterile supplies as needed.
• Maintain aseptic technique and infection control throughout all phases of procedures.
• Inspect and ensure proper functioning of instruments and equipment; report malfunctions.
• Manage inventory of surgical supplies and restock to prevent delays.
• Assist in cleaning, sterilization, and proper storage post-procedure.
• Document procedures and maintain instrument counts to ensure safety.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support efficient OR turnover.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
