Job summary

ConnectedHealth in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Full Time Operating Room Technician to provide essential support during surgical procedures. The role ensures sterile field integrity, assists with instrument management, and contributes to patient safety and team efficiency.

You will prepare and maintain sterile fields, pass instruments, assist with patient positioning and draping, perform sponge and needle counts, and help with equipment setup and daily sterilization checks.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining sterile field during surgery.
• Proficiency in surgical hand scrubbing, gowning and gloving.
• Able to perform accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile field per surgeon preference
• Arrange, organize, and inventory sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Pass instruments and equipment to the surgical team in the prescribed manner
• Perform surgical hand scrubbing, gowning, and gloving procedures
• Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and draping
• Conduct sponge, needle, and instrument counts to ensure patient safety
• Identify, preserve, and prepare operative specimens for analysis
• Dispose of sharps, needles, solutions, trash, and linen properly
• Assist with transferring patients safely from operating table to stretcher
• Clean and wash surgical instruments for sterilization
• Perform required daily equipment and sterilization checks, including Bowie-Dick test
• Adjust surgical lights and assist with operating room setup
