Job summary

Oro Valley Hospital, part of Northwest Healthcare, seeks a Surgical Assistant to support the operating room team. You will prepare the OR, assist with patient preparation, and provide technical support during procedures under supervision.

You will handle instruments, maintain sterile technique, position patients, and help with room turnover while following safety protocols and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years in a surgical, sterile processing, or patient care support role.
• Experience in perioperative services or surgical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with operating room setup and ensures sterility of instruments and equipment.
• Prepares and positions patients for surgery following protocols.
• Passes instruments to the surgical team and maintains aseptic technique.
• Maintains sterile field and assists with infection prevention.
• Assists with room turnover and prepares for the next case.
• Supports patient safety and comfort during prep and recovery.
• Collaborates with nurses, scrub techs, and surgeons to support workflow.
• Stocks supplies in OR and procedure areas.
