Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an OR Housekeeper to perform routine and specialized cleaning for the operating rooms and related surgical areas. You will follow established procedures, use proper methods and materials, and work under supervision to ensure sterile and safe environments.

Responsibilities include cleaning OR suites, mopping and scrubbing floors, handling waste, and assisting in training staff on EVS operations in the OR while adhering to infection control

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.
• 1+ year of housekeeping experience.
• Successful completion of specialized surgical area cleaning training.
• Able to follow AORN infection control standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs cleaning of all surgical areas, wall cleaning, machine scrubbing of floors and related tasks per OR standards.
• Cleans, mops, scrubs, dry mops, and vacuums OR area.
• Cleans, washes, and sanitizes the entire Operating Room suite using proper technique and chemicals.
• Cleans hardware such as OR tables and overhead equipment.
• Dust mops, damp mops, and machine scrubs hard surface floors in surgical area.
• Removes trash and maintains clean trash bins.
• Reports repairs needed to OR supervisory personnel.
• Follows universal precautions and PPE guidance while cleaning patient care areas.
• Trains and mentors coworkers for EVS responsibilities in the OR.
