Job summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with the Duke Surgical Oncology Division of Endocrine Surgery. The position collaborates with attending physicians and other APPs, collects data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders labs and consultations, and provides direct patient care.

A component includes operating room duties, first assisting, perioperative decisions, and coordinating care.

Qualifications

• NP: completion of accredited NP program with Master's in Nursing.
• PA: completion of accredited PA program; Bachelor's required; Master's strongly preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• RN licensure in NC; NP or PA certification as applicable.

Responsibilities

• In collaboration with Surgical Oncology attending physicians, the NP/PA performs triage, exams, data collection, procedures, orders and schedules labs and consultations, prescribes interventions, coordinates care, and provides direct patient care.
• Analyze clinical practice patterns to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
• Communicate pertinent patient information to supervising MDs, nursing staff, patient resource manager, home health, and other providers.
• Document results, patient status, and therapies in the EMR.
