Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians, nurses and staff by facilitating efficient patient flow and providing care in a clinical setting. You will assist with exams, basic procedures, vital signs, and administrative tasks while maintaining patient confidentiality and high quality care.

A High School diploma or GED and MA certification within six months are required. This role emphasizes teamwork, professional communication, and adherence to policies and safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must obtain one of the five MA certifications within six months of employment: CMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA or NRCMA.
• Certified Life Support (BLS) and ongoing credential maintenance required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with maintaining efficient patient flow: escorting to exam rooms, obtaining vitals, updating reason for visit and allergy history.
• Supports practitioners with ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, specimen collection, and CLIA-waived testing per protocol.
• Keeps exam rooms clean, stocked, disinfected and organized; monitors inventory and adheres to safety standards.
• Interacts with patients professionally to support satisfaction and team communication by phone and in person.
• Performs delegated procedures appropriate to the specialty area and assists with other duties as assigned by supervisor.
