RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an Assistant Director of Patient Care for the Surgical Neuro ICU in New Brunswick, NJ. The role leads nursing teams, advances quality and safety, and supports a professional practice environment in a fast-paced unit.

The position offers a salaried, full-time Day shift with on-call leadership coverage. Requirements include an active NJ RN license, BSN (MSN preferred), BLS/ACLS, and 3–4 years of CCU leadership experience, with Epic experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
• MSN preferred
• Minimum 3–4 years of critical care nursing experience
• ACLS and BLS certifications required; CCRN preferred
• Experience leading in a fast-paced acute care setting

Responsibilities

• Provide visible clinical and operational leadership for safe, high-quality, patient-centered care
• Oversee daily unit operations including staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation
• Promote patient safety and clinical excellence through nursing practice oversight
• Monitor quality, safety, patient experience and outcomes; lead performance improvement initiatives
• Recruit, develop, coach and support nursing staff; promote accountability and teamwork
• Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize transitions and throughput
• Champion exceptional patient and family experience through effective communication and service recovery
• Ensure compliance with policies, documentation, infection control, and regulatory standards
• Manage staffing, supplies, equipment, and budget resources to meet department goals
