Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, NC, seeks a skilled Surgical Technologist/Instrument Tech to join the OR and SPD teams. The role supports efficient case flow and instrument handling.

You will coordinate instrument turnarounds, review schedules for accurate case carts, and work with OR staff to ensure readiness. A high school diploma with hospital Sterile Processing experience is required; CST credential is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with four years of hospital Sterile Processing and/or scrub tech in OR required.
• Associate's degree with two years of hospital Sterile Processing experience or graduation from accredited Surgical Technology program and CST preferred.
• Certification from an accredited agency in sterile processing required or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Manages flow of materials between OR and SPD; directs daily activities for instrument ordering, presentation, maintenance and preparation.
• Reviews surgery schedule to ensure accurate case carts with Production Supervisor.
• Assesses case flow, monitors instrument needs, and coordinates instrument turnarounds.
• Plans and coordinates instrument turnaround and resolves instrument issues affecting start time.
• Acts as liaison between OR and SPD; collaborates with OR staff and management.
• Develops and implements standards of performance for surgical instrumentation.
• Engages in training planning with OR teams for instrumentation.
• Verifies instrumentation sterilization and availability for next-day or weekend cases.
