• Knowledge of aseptic technique and universal precautions.
• Ability to comprehend orientation/training materials for aseptic techniques in the OR.
• Completion of skill training with cognitive exam and unit training as needed.
• Interpersonal skills for self-directed work teams and hospital communications.
• 180-day probationary period for new hires; 90-day trial for transfers.
• Organizational/analytical skills for OR board/room requirements.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage time amidst interruptions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with proper body mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Assist OR staff in facilitating surgical cases and reference protocol cards.
• Assemble supplies for surgical cases per procedures.
• Assist in sterile setup for procedures and surgeon needs.
• Deliver specimens to Pathology/Laboratory as required.
• Perform cleaning and flash autoclaving of specialty instruments between cases.
• Maintain and stock surgical carts, equipment, and inventory.
• Support patient transfer, positioning, and preparation under supervision.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies.
