Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking an experienced surgical technologist to assist in preparing the operating room, gathering instruments, and supporting the surgical team during procedures. You will ensure supplies are available, assist with exposure, hemostasis, and closure, and apply appropriate dressings under supervision.

The role emphasizes proper draping, tissue handling, and coordination with the RN and surgical technologist to support safe operations and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Surgical technology program accredited by CAAHEP.
• Five years experience as a surgical technologist.
• On-the-job training as First Assistant or five years as First Assistant.
• Certified Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
• BLS: Basic Life Support is required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy and operative techniques.
• Ensures all supplies, equipment and instruments are available and charged.
• Assists physician with positioning, draping, retracting, suctioning, suturing and cautery.
• Assists team with patient transport and total care.
