Job summary

Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA is seeking a Unit Coordinator to support the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. This 24-hour-per-week role includes day shifts from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm and an every-third-weekend commitment with rotating holidays.

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, you will provide clerical support, prepare patient charts, process physician orders, maintain supply inventories, answer phones, protect patient confidentiality, and help ensure timely patient flow.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills for recording patient information.
• Ability to read, spell and write clearly.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients charts, ensuring that all necessary forms are available and relevant patient information is ready for use or review daily.
• Assembles charts for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Utilizes appropriate computer systems to process physician orders for relevant patient information.
• Utilizes bedtracking systems to support timely patient flow.
• Answers telephones, following Lahey Clinic’s established greeting; takes and transmits messages to unit staff.
• Responds to queries from physicians, nursing staff, and visitors taking care not disclose confidential patient information to unauthorized individuals in accordance with Lahey policies and HIPAA.
