Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant I in the Department of Surgery. The selected candidate will collaborate with supervising physicians and medical teams to provide comprehensive care in inpatient, surgical, and outpatient settings, including documenting care, orders, and patient progress.

Required qualifications include a NYS PA license, graduation from an accredited PA program, and BLS/ACLS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program is required.
• New York State Physician Assistant Licensure and Registration is required.
• BLS and ACLS Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for patient care with supervising physician and collaborating with medical teams.
• Perform a broad spectrum of care including diagnosis, ordering meds and diagnostics, and therapeutic measures in inpatient, surgical, and/or outpatient settings.
• Assume medical staff privileging under the scope of practice determined by the hospital system.
• Record patient care and orders accurately in medical records.
