Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• 2 years hospital-based Physician Assistant experience.
• 1 year experience in General Surgery environment.
• BLS and ACLS Certification.
• Or a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

Responsibilities

• Provide full support to the department by evaluating inpatients with residents when attendings are unavailable.
• Order and follow up on the scheduling and performance of diagnostic tests.
• Complete medication orders and monitor treatment plans.
• Collaborate with surgeons, residents and nursing staff in interpreting clinical information.
• Liaise with physicians, nursing and staff to streamline patient care and reduce length of stay.
• Monitor postoperative patients and participate in discharge planning with social workers.
• Ensure discharge readiness and proper follow-up scheduling.
• Support perioperative care by coordinating with other disciplines and expediting evaluations.
• Educate residents, medical students and nursing staff in surgical care techniques.
• Demonstrate flexibility to perform additional duties as needed.
