Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to support patient care under licensed nurse supervision. The role includes maintaining a safe patient environment, accurate task documentation, and clear communication with patients and staff.

Applicants should hold a current Louisiana CNA license; BLS and CPI must be obtained within 30 days from hire. Prefer hospital/telemetry experience and flexibility for a 24/7 schedule.

Qualifications

• Current Louisiana CNA certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 30 days from hire.
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) to be obtained within 30 days from hire.
• Preferred hospital and telemetry experience.

Responsibilities

• Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
• Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multi-disciplinary teams.
• Completes documentation of patient related tasks.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
