Job summary

Community Health Systems is seeking a Surgical First Assistant at Physicians Regional – Surgical Services in Naples, FL. Join a high-performing team that uses minimally invasive and robotic-assisted systems to support diverse surgical specialties.

The Surgical Technician First Assist will provide direct support to surgeons, maintain sterile field, handle instruments, assist with positioning, suturing, and dressings while ensuring patient safety in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician or First Assist in an acute care setting.
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or CSFA (Certified Surgical First Assistant) or CSA (Certified Surgical Assistant) credentials required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Scrub and organize sterile supplies and instruments; maintain sterile field and provide instruments to the surgical team.
• Perform first assistant duties including exposure, retractors, suctioning, and sponging as directed.
• Dissect tissues, control bleeding, place drains as instructed; assist with wound closure and dressing.
• Ensure sterility and safety; perform counting procedures with RN circulator; follow infection control protocols.
• Prepare and transport instruments for decontamination; assist in post-procedure turnover and room readiness.
• Maintain regular attendance and comply with policies.
