Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking a Surgical Assistant RNFA or PA First Assist for operating room support. The role provides intraoperative 1st and 2nd assistance, supports perioperative care, and maintains safety standards. Comprehensive pre/postoperative duties are included.

Candidates should have accredited Surgical Assistant or PA training, nursing or perioperative nursing experience, and required certifications. The position is on-site with UH responsibilities and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant Program or equivalent.
• Master's Degree from an accredited PA educational program – Required.
• 1+ years as a PA or strong surgical assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides intraoperative technical functions in first-assist role.
• Displays knowledge of anatomy and physiology while delivering safe care.
• Establishes safe perioperative environment.
• Supports perioperative area and assigned duties per entity.
• Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients and staff.
• Performs patient assessment and plans care following care paths and standards.
