Job summary

Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Surgical Services team as a Surgical First Assist in the operating room.

You will work closely with surgeons and perioperative staff to deliver high-quality care, with responsibilities including intraoperative first assistance, tissue handling, and wound closure, while maintaining patient safety and continuous care throughout the surgical episode.

Qualifications

• Licensure as NP or PA in Idaho and appropriate national certification.
• Current BLS; ACLS if required for the position.
• Prior operating room experience and proficiency in surgical first assisting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide intraoperative first assist responsibilities per training and privileges.
• Support surgical exposure, tissue handling, hemostasis, suturing and wound closure as needed.
• Collaborate with surgeons and perioperative team on patient assessment and perioperative planning while ensuring safety.
