Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare seeks a Surgical First Assistant to support surgeons, ensure sterile setup, and assist in complex procedures. The role requires an Associate degree in surgical technology or NBSTSA training and IL state licensure.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in surgical technology or NBSTSA Surgical First Assist training.
• CSFA certification within one year of employment and case log per NBSTA criteria.
• Registered by the State of Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Prepare rooms with instruments, sutures and supplies for procedures.
• Assist surgeon with exposure, hemostasis, and closure as directed.
• Maintain sterile technique and assist in maintaining counts of instruments.
• Transport patients to/from the OR and position them for surgery.
• Decontaminate equipment and communicate with the team to ensure patient safety.
