Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest is seeking a Surgical Tech First Assist to join our OR team. The role involves assisting surgeons and staff to provide safe, high-quality care across neonatal to geriatric patients and participating in preoperative and postoperative tasks under surgeon guidance.

The ideal candidate holds CST and SAS certifications, has 2 years as a CST and 1 year as a SAS, and maintains current BCLS.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Surgical Technologist certification program from an accredited educational institution and completion of the Surgical Assisting Certification Exam.
• Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist is required.
• Certification as a Surgical First Assist is required.
• Two years' experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
• One year experience as a Surgical First Assistant is required.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Operating Room Surgeons and staff to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients across all ages.
• Communicate continuously with the surgeon about the patient’s condition and assist during operative and invasive procedures.
• Prepare the patient/OR Suite including Foley catheter placement, tourniquet application, cricoid pressure, and gathering needed supplies and equipment.
• Deliver quality patient care and promote a positive image of the department.
• Demonstrate teamwork, adaptability, and serve as a resource to the Surgical Services team.
