Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a per diem OR Surgical First Assist provider (APN/RNFA or PA) for the operating room in New Jersey. The role requires strong leadership, critical thinking, and collaborative care with the surgical team.

A RN First Assist certification or PA credentials are required, with three shifts per month minimum and shifts that vary to cover 24-hour service. Candidates must hold NJ RN/APN licensure and national certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate from NLN/AACN accredited nursing program (APN/NP) with Master’s/Doctorate.
• Strong clinical skills and ongoing continuing education.
• Board certification from AANP/ANCC is mandatory for APN/PA.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document comprehensive history and physicals tailored to patient age and condition.
• Order, perform, and interpret labs and studies with physician collaboration.
• Provide patient education and safe pharmacologic management per NJ regulations.
• Promote APN/RNFA and PA practice recognition through conferences and publications.
• Deliver patient- and family-centered care, adhering to policies and standards.
• Participate in rounds, handoffs, and interdisciplinary care planning.
• Mentor APN/RNFA and PA students and support educational programs.
