Job summary

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, AZ is hiring a Certified Surgical First Assistant to support operating room teams during labor and delivery procedures. You will assist surgeons, prepare instruments, maintain aseptic technique, and ensure patient safety before, during, and after procedures.

The role requires OR experience, a surgical technologist credential, and current BLS. Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program and First Assistant certification are preferred;

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and current BLS certification.
• Surgical technologist certification.
• 2+ years operating room experience.
• Scrub proficient in at least 2 surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

• Provides surgical assistance to surgeon for perioperative patient cases and prepares for procedures.
• Anticipates surgeon's needs, maintains hemostasis, passes instruments and retracts tissue.
• Demonstrates aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure.
• Assists with plan of care under physician direction and adheres to policies and standards.
• Completes all functions per policies, ensuring safe and excellent service to patients.
• Serves as First Assistant in the operating room and follows safety procedures.
