Job summary

The Jax Spine and Pain Center seeks an experienced Surgical First Assistant to support the surgeon during spine and orthopedic procedures in a fast-paced operating room.

You will provide direct intraoperative assistance, manage exposure and hemostasis, and help with suturing, implants, and instrument readiness, while upholding strict sterile technique and patient safety throughout every step of the procedure.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical First Assistant (SFA) program.
• Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) credential is a plus.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with First Assist certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct intraoperative assistance to the surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with exposure, retraction, suctioning, and maintaining a clear surgical field.
• Perform suturing, ligation, cauterization, and closure of incisions as directed by the surgeon.
• Assist with placement of surgical implants, instrumentation, and specialized equipment.
