CHRISTUS Health in Texarkana, TX seeks a qualified Surgical First Assistant to support the surgeon across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. You will ensure patient safety, assist with exposure and hemostasis, and help with closures and drains under supervision.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Surgical First Assistant program, BLS, and CST First Assistant certification.

Formación

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical First Assist Program, State Board accredited Vocational School of Nursing, or Graduate of School of Surgical technology required.
• 2 years of Surgical Tech experience preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Assist the surgeon under direct and indirect supervision throughout preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative dillies and procedures.
• Position the patient safely according to the surgeon's preference and procedure.
• Prepare patient to include Foley catheter placement, tourniquet, IV placement, and other procedures as needed.
• Perform incision and layered closure, provide exposure, achieve hemostasis, and manage drains and dressings.
• Assist in transfer of the patient and follow to recovery as directed by the surgeon.
• Perform vein and graft harvesting and graft/implant preparation as trained.
• Carry out additional duties as delegated by the surgeon in cooperation with policies.
