Job summary

Christus Health is seeking a Surgical First Assistant to support the surgeon during preoperative, intraoperative, and post-operative phases. The role includes positioning patients safely, assisting with exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative tasks as required.

Responsibilities also include coordination with the circulator and anesthesia provider, and following hospital policies and applicable regulations to ensure optimal patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical First Assist Program, State Board accredited Vocational School of Nursing, or Graduate of School of Surgical Technology required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the surgeon under direct and indirect supervision during preoperative, intraoperative, and post-operative duties.
• Facilitates safe patient positioning according to surgeon preference and patient limits.
