Job summary

Firelands Regional Medical Center in Bellevue, OH is seeking a First Assist (CSTFA or RNFA) for a full-time, on-site role in the Surgical Services department. The Surgical Assistant will support the operating surgeon in patient care and perform selected duties to maintain efficient case flow.

Qualifications include CSTFA or RN certification or active progression toward certification, with a minimum of four years in the OR and a strong attention to detail.

• CSTFA or RN required or actively pursuing certification.
• Minimum four years of related operating room experience.
• Strong attention to detail and persuasiveness.

Responsibilities

• Assist the operating surgeon in the care of patients in surgery and perform selected duties.
• Scrub in surgery, maintain homeostasis, handle tissue, and assist with wound closure as directed by the surgeon.
• Prepare for cases with correct equipment, instrumentation, and supplies.
• Facilitate timely case starts by supervising opening, positioning, catheter placement, prepping and draping.
