Job summary

West Tennessee Healthcare in Dyersburg, Tennessee seeks a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) to join our operating room team. The role provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, and surgical assistance under the surgeon's direction.

The CSFA works in the single operating room, scrubs and prepares instruments, ensures aseptic technique, and participates in counts and specimen handling. A minimum three-month scrub experience and current BLS are required.

Qualifications

• CSFA certification required and current.
• BLS certification required within orientation period.
• Three months of departmental education to scrub during cases.
• Knowledge of asepsis, instrument handling, and patient care guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide exposure and hemostasis assistance under surgeon direction.
• Assist with instrument handling, passing, and setup.
• Perform or assist with surgical wound closure and tissue handling.
• Maintain counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.
• Ensure proper handling and labeling of lab specimens.
• Prepare operating room and supplies for procedures.
