Job summary

The Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) position in Tennessee supports the operating room team by providing aid in exposure, hemostasis, and intraoperative assistance under physician supervision. The CSFA performs technically advanced functions and ensures sterile technique for patient care in the assigned operating room.

Responsibilities include scrubbing, gowning, passing instruments, sponge/needle counts, handling specimens, and preparing supplies.

Qualifications

• CSFA certification demonstrated and maintained.
• BLS certification obtained within orientation period and kept current.
• Experience scrubbing during surgical cases plus aseptic technique.

Responsibilities

• Assists in exposure and hemostasis under surgeon supervision.
• Scrubs, gowns and gloves for procedures; passes instruments.
• Performs instrument and sponge counts; handles lab specimens per protocol.
• Prepares equipment and room; ensures proper sterilization and stocking.
• Relieves cases as needed to maintain continuity of care.
