Job summary

Piedmont Henry Hospital is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist First Assistant to support operative teams in the OR. The role involves preparation and sterilization of instruments, assisting surgeons, and ensuring sterile technique during invasive procedures.

Candidates must have completed an accredited surgical technologist program, be CST and BCLS certified, and hold or be eligible for CSFA/CSA; at least 3 years perioperative experience is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Completion of didactic and clinical components of the First Assistant program or competency verified by a sponsoring Piedmont surgeon during the orientation period.
• 3 years perioperative services experience required.
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist required and BCLS - Basic Life Support required and CSA/CSFA or equivalent certification required.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a first assistant during operative and other invasive procedures in accordance with credentials, privileges, experience, education and competency verification.
• Assists OR staff in the assigned room/case.
• Facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing sterile instruments, supplies and equipment.
• Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.

Functions as a first assistant during operative and other invasive procedures in accordance with credentials, privileges, experience, education and competency verification. Assists OR staff in the assigned room/case. At time facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment in the role of scrub tech. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.
