Casey Dental in Pittston, PA is seeking a Surgical Dental Assistant to join a supportive, patient-centered team. This full-time position supports the oral surgeon during extractions, implants, bone grafts, and IV sedation, maintains a sterile operatory, and ensures patient comfort throughout procedures.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a dental or surgical assisting program, CPR/BLS, and 1–2 years of surgical experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a dental or surgical assisting program is required.
• Current CPR/BLS certification is required.
• State-specific dental assistant or surgical assistant certification may be required.
• Minimum 1–2 years of surgical or oral surgery assisting experience is required.
• Familiarity with OSHA, CDC infection control protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist the oral surgeon during procedures such as extractions, implants, bone grafts, and IV sedation.
• Prepare and maintain a sterile operatory and instruments.
• Monitor patient vitals and comfort before, during, and after procedures.
• Document surgical procedures in the dental software system.
• Manage surgical inventory and order materials as needed.
• Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients and caregivers.
• Support sedation and recovery protocols in line with standards.
• Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.
• Collaborate with front office and clinical teams to ensure efficiency.
