Job summary

Pennwood Oral Surgery is seeking an enthusiastic Surgical Dental Assistant to join our team. You will support Oral Surgeons through a variety of procedures, prepare the treatment room, and ensure patient comfort with a strong emphasis on infection control.

The role requires a valid X-ray license and prior experience in oral surgery. You will educate patients, maintain records, and assist with administrative tasks to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid X-ray license is required.
• Previous experience as a dental assistant, particularly in Oral Surgery, is highly desirable.
• Discharge experience is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of oral surgery procedures, instruments, and materials.
• Familiarity with infection control protocols and safety measures.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in dental software and computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and support Oral Surgeons during various surgical procedures.
• Prepare patients for Oral Surgery and explain procedures to address concerns.
• Maintain a sterile environment and follow infection control protocols during surgery.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and comfort levels during procedures.
• Assist with instrument setup, waste disposal, and safe handling of materials.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate with staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Manage patient records, billing, and insurance documentation.
