Job summary

Vance Thompson Vision is seeking a Surgical Counselor to join a growing Kansas City market team in Leawood. You will educate patients on refractive, laser and surgical options and schedule procedures, while ensuring clear communication and exceptional service.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with medical office experience preferred. A strong emphasis on patient care, organizational skills, and teamwork will help you succeed in this busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients on refractive, laser and surgical procedures and provide thorough counseling.
• Schedule refractive, laser and surgical procedures and manage schedules.
• Explain financial responsibilities and assist with consent forms.
• Answer patient questions by phone and in person with clear communication.
• Support patient care and coordinate with supervising staff.
• Follow up with potential refractive candidates as needed.

You Will Make An Impact By

• Ensuring thorough patient education and counseling about refractive, laser and surgical procedures.
• Scheduling refractive, laser and surgical procedures for patients; oversees maintenance and distribution of schedules.
• Educating patients on financial responsibility, and answers questions on financial documents and ensures patients sign any necessary consent forms.
• Answering patient phone calls regarding questions or concerns.
• Providing other related services to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
• Communicating with supervisor and/or surgeon regarding potential patient concerns
• Making follow-up calls to potential refractive candidates.

You Have

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred
