Job summary

South Shore Health System is seeking a Professional Surgical Coder I to assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and E/M codes for inpatient and outpatient services. You will review clinical documentation, identify gaps, and query providers to ensure accuracy and compliant coding.

The role collaborates with physicians and leadership to support documentation improvement and maintain high-quality coding standards, with a focus on timely and accurate coding in Epic.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to an Associate's Degree in Medical Information Technology with coursework in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD-10-CM coding.
• Two to three (2-3) years in a surgical practice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and E/M codes for inpatient and outpatient services.
• Review documentation and query providers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Identify documentation gaps and collaborate with providers to improve quality of documentation.
• Ensure coded data is accurately entered into Epic and aligned with AHIMA standards.
