Job summary

Townsen Memorial Hospital in Houston, TX is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse, PAT to coordinate pre-admission testing and assessment for patients scheduled for invasive or surgical procedures.

The RN PAT will communicate results with providers, ensure supplies and equipment, document care, and guide patients and families through care plans while adapting to changing conditions. Requires an Associate Degree in Nursing and Texas RN license; ACLS/PALS may be required within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Nursing.
• Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
• One year of perioperative nursing experience.
• ACLS certification or obtained within 60 days of hire.
• PALS certification or obtained within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate pre-admission testing (PAT) and interview/assessment for patients scheduled for invasive or surgical procedures.
• Communicate testing results with providers to optimize patient condition prior to surgery.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available and in good working order.
• Explain nursing procedures and actions to help reduce patient anxiety.
• Document patient care accurately in the medical record.
• Implement doctors' orders in a timely and accurate manner.
• Coordinate patient care and provide explanations and teaching to patients and families.
• Plan for routine events and manage emergent situations.
• Adapt to unexpected changes.
• Participate in performance improvement activities.
